Echo spot action button

You can modify many different device options on your Echo Spot.

Set Up Your Echo Device with a Screen

To get started, place your device in a central location (at least eight inches from any walls and windows). You can place your device in a variety of locations, including your kitchen counter, your living room, your bedroom nightstand, and more.

  1. Download the Alexa app and sign in.
With the free Alexa app for Fire OS, Android, iOS, and supported desktop web browsers, you can manage device and feature options. The Alexa app is available on phones and tablets with:

    • FireOS 3.0 or higher
    • Android 5.0 or higher
    • iOS 9.0 or higher

To download the Alexa app, go to the app store on your mobile device and search for “Alexa app.”

You can also start the setup process from your computer browser at https://alexa.amazon.com. Supported browsers are:

    • Safari
    • Chrome
    • Firefox
    • Microsoft Edge
    • Internet Explorer (10 or higher)
  2. Turn on the device.
Plug the included power adapter into the device and then into a power outlet. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to select a language, connect to Wi-Fi, log in to your Amazon account, and review the Terms and Conditions.
  3. Talk to Alexa.
When you see the home screen with rotating pages, you can use your device. To get started, say your “wake word” and then speak naturally to Alexa. Your device is set to respond to the wake word “Alexa” by default, but you can change it at any time. To change the wake word, you can say, “Change the wake word.” You can also make this change in the Alexa app by going to “Settings,” selecting your device, and then selecting “Wake Word.”
